I am directed by the Secretary of State to forward herewith, for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies, a copy of a letter from the Commissioner of Metropolitan Police in regard to the case of Police Constable Henry James Wood, who served in the Hong Kong Police from September, 1882, until May, 1887, when he resigned to join

(China) Police, subsequently joining the Metropolitan Police from which he is now claiming a pension.

of His Majesty's Treasury, a copy of whose reply is also enclosed from which it will be observed that whilst Their Lordships are unable to make an award under the Superannuation Act, 1892, they suggest that enquiry should be made of the Colonial Office to sacertain whether the local law permits any addition being made from the revenues of Hong Kong to the Constable'e
